senior 年长的，级别较高；be senior to

pick up 1）take up 捡起；2）learn/gain(得到) sth. (not formally) 非正式学习得到；3）顺路用车搭载某人

as well as表示(同,和),用于连接两个并列的成分。
Tom can play basketball as well as football.    汤姆会打篮球和踢足球。

就近原则：

鼓励：encouraging adj. 物
